You'd be surprised.  The maker crowd has found out about amateur radio and they
love it.

For one thing you can easily use your computer to talk on the air and be able to
work (talk to) places that you might not be able to otherwise.

I will be bringing one of my radio setups alone with my QSL card (postcards we
hams send each other to verify contacts) collection showing a lot of the
contacts I've made over the years.  I've been a licensed ham since 1997 and am
quite proud of it.  I also hold the highest class of amateur radio license
available in the US also.
