I haven't been through exactly that level of personal hardship... Just certain
family members who "pulled stunts" with me just prior to Christmas then
expecting all to be forgiven / ignored / put-on-pause because its Christmas.

It happened a few years in a row, and one family member proceeded to lecture 
me about "Christmas is the time for forgiveness" in a way that was completely
off-putting, tone deaf and definately shoved me in the bah humbug direction.

Same with Thanksgiving, same drama. One year I slaved away in the kitchen and
cooked a nice turkey dinner, all to have my wonderful offspring pile up a 
plate of food and took off to her bedroom, to go camp out on the Internet.
