I don't know if the original ever ran here on our PBS network, at least not
since the 1990s when I started watching the "non-US" shows.

Since it is the original to me, I didn't have that stigma, but I can see
where I would if I had.  That happens with some other shows, too.

I have never watched that one, but have followed other stories where all
the original main characters are gone.  The classic TV Show "The Naked
City" was like that.  Most of the original cops -- the two main characters
in particular -- were either gone or relegated to supporting roles about
midway through the 4 or 5 year run of the show.  IIRC, "Arcaro" was the
only regular character that was on the whole run of the show.

The Dukes of Hazzard also did that for one season before the original Duke
Boys returned.  I was reminded of that this weekend... I was at the annual
festival in my father's hometown and two of the guests of honor were "Coy
Duke" and "Bo Duke"... Bo being one of the originals, and Coy being his
temporary replacement. ;)
