I remember a lonnnng time ago, a new cable station called CNN reported news
in a very professional, almost matter-of-fact nonpartisan manner.

And from what I remember... all of that professionalism went straight 
out the freakin' window around the time of the OJ Simpson trial.

It was interesting that shows like Hard Copy and A Current Affair were mocked 
for their sensationalist approach to news stories (or what is considered to be
news-worthy). Then, most news outlets including CNN chose to become them.

I like Fox News for being that "alternative viewpoint" but sometimes they go 
off the rails with sensationalism and clickbait headlines; or pumping up 
stories to be more than what they are. I know all the news outlets do it, but 
really wish Fox News would lead by example by cleaning itself up a bit.

"The Sun" chain of newspapers in Canada could be considered conservative; and 
plans were in place for them to start their own news channel. The Canadian 
equivalent of the FCC, the CRTC, of which major liberal media are members,
quickly veto'd the decision by stating that "Canada does not need a Fox News 
North".

Unfortunately Canada does not have free speech or choice in news outlets.
