IDE CD-ROM not detected.....Driver not loaded.
His computer is a 386 DX/40 ISA-BUS system. He has an ISA IDE Super I/O
controller on his system. I have the CD-ROM jumpers set to 'Slave' and have
attached the CD-ROM to the secondary connector on the IDE ribbon cable. I
have done everything I know to do such as: Switch connectors on the cable,
check for device conflicts, change the jumper settings and nothing has worked
yet.
Anyone who could give me some insight on this problem would make me very
happy.

You cannot successfully SHARE an IDE port on a 386 with the CDROM. The CDROM
will need to be on its own secondary controller. They are available for less
then $15.00 at most good outlets.
Even if you managed to get it to work, it would choke bigtime the first time
you go to use it in windows. MSCDEX for some reason really can't task well
under a 386.
