[ Here are your words ] This maybe be outa line, but here goes..... Ya say optcial cd's can be "off balenced" and hard drives aren't. Ok, that makes sense. know how about Putting data on "portable "hard drives""?? They'd be about the size of a optical cd. is it possible. I know floppies are sorta like hard drives, they both store data magnetically. but, make a magnetic compacted disc, that would store the same or greater amount of info as they optical. there fore you could have a VERY high speed magnetic cd drive and not hafta worry about "off balenced" cd's. THey could be carried around in a sort of case not much bigger than the cd, BUT capable of sheilding the cd against magnetic forces. Is this possible ?!?? [ This is my response ] Already exists. Its known as a Floptical, Optical Disk. Sizes now go up to well over a gig. Makers such as Syquest and Conner to name two. *****Merlin***** ================ Excaliber BBS VNET@1610025 VBBS Ver. 7.00.02 Supra 28.8V34 (610)488-0299 USR VEverything(488-9194) |
