A front extending from the Upper Great Lakes to the Lower
Mississippi Valley/Western Gulf Coast will advance eastward to the
Northern/Central Appalachians and remain quasi-stationary over the
Western Gulf Coast through Thursday evening. Showers and
thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front from the
Middle Mississippi Valley to the Lower Mississippi Valley/Western
Gulf Coast on Tuesday evening. The boundary will produce heavy
rain over parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley/Tennessee Valley
on Tuesday. Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk (level
2/4) of excessive rainfall over the Lower Mississippi
Valley/Tennessee Valley through Wednesday morning. The associated
heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of flash flooding,
with urban areas, roads, small streams, narrow canyons/gullies,
and burn scars the most vulnerable.

In addition, rain will develop over parts of the Upper Mississippi
Valley/Upper Great Lakes that will move into the
Northeast/Mid-Atlantic by Thursday. Moreover, rain with embedded
thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Mid-Atlantic on
Thursday evening.

Easterly flow off the Atlantic will aid in developing showers and
thunderstorms with heavy rain over parts of the eastern coast of
Florida through Wednesday morning. Therefore, the WPC has issued a
Slight Risk (level 2/4) of excessive rainfall over the
southeastern coast of Florida on Tuesday into Wednesday morning.

A front moving onto the California Coast will dissipate by
Wednesday morning. The energy associated with the front will
produce rain and higher-elevation snow over parts of
Northern/Central California on Tuesday evening. Higher-elevation
snow and lower-elevation rain will develop over parts of the Great
Basin and the Central Rockies overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. By
Thursday morning, rain will develop over parts of the
Central/Southern Plains, tapering off the light rain over parts of
the Middle Mississippi Valley by Thursday evening. Showers and
thunderstorms will also develop over parts of the Western/Central
Gulf Coast.
