   Europe forecast - December 23, 2024
   Gales in places
   Unsettled eastern Mediterranean

   Issued: 0530hrs Monday 23rd December 2024
   Duty forecaster: Dan Graves

Unsettled for several days in eastern Mediterranean. Mostly cloudy
elsewhere, patches of rain and snow east.

   Monday
Cloud and some patchy rain for northern Spain. Fair with lots of sun
for the rest of Spain and Portugal. Rain too affecting the Balearics,
sun and showers alternating. Low pressure bringing rain to Italy, heavy
and thundery in the south with gales. Further heavy, thundery rain
along the Adriatic coasts and for Greece as well as southern and
western Turkey. Inland Balkan counties will see snow, some heavy,
through the day. Eastward toward Romania and Bulgaria drier.
Some rain in northwest France with further rain and snow showers in
eastern France. Fair for the rest of the country. Breezy and showery in
the Low Countries. Frequent showers and some snow in Germany, feeling
cold. Further showers in western Poland but fair in the east. Hungary
and its north and east neighbors should be mostly fair with isolated
showers/snow. Snow, some heavy, affecting Austria and Switzerland.
Bright in Denmark with sunny spells, though gales along the west coast
down to Germany. Some showers in southern Sweden. Rain, sleet and some
snow in the Baltic States and southern Finland. Broken cloud in Norway
   but mostly dry.

   Tuesday
North Spain will see some drizzle, but elsewhere over the Iberia will
be mostly dry and sunny. Mostly sunny across the Mediterranean towards
Italy, though rain and risk of gales over the Balearics. Lingering low
pressure maintains showers in southern Italy and Greece. Heavy showers,
some thundery, along the Turkish coasts and inland in the southeast.
Mostly dry though cloudy in France, the Low Countries, and Germany.
Better chance for sun in the south near Switzerland and northern Italy.
Occasional snow showers linger further east in Czechia, Austria,
southern Hungary, and west Ukraine. Snow continues inland in the
Balkans, rain moving into Bulgaria and Romania.
Persistent rain along Norway's coasts, snow inland. Rain will cross
Denmark into southwest Sweden. Finland stays dry and cloudy. Some rain
and snow showers in the Baltic states, glimpses of sun possible south
   towards Poland and Belarus.
