Here, kids were not in school during flu season, and many adults were
working from home and social distancing.  I suspect that the social
distancing and mask wearing are effective against the flu.  Although I am
not certain, I also suspect that medical health providers stressed the flu
shot even more this past year than in recent ones.

I agree re: your assessment.  Some symptoms are more likely COVID than
others.  Here right now, allergy symptoms are off the chart and some of
those symptoms are also COVID symptoms.
